Dr. Lia Roth, LCSW
My name is Lía Roth, Psya.D. I worked as a psychologist in private practice and hospital settings in Argentina. Later on, I moved to New York and finally relocated to St. Louis, MO. I obtained a master’s degree at Washington University in St. Louis. In May 2016 the Missouri Credentialing Board granted me a Reciprocal Advanced Alcohol Drug Counselor (CRAADC) certification. Last year I was also awarded an International Psychoanalytic Association RTP- Research Fellow.
What’s my dissertation about? I’ve studied how deeply affecting judgmental messages can be. At the end of the day other people’s judgments on us matter. My dissertation is called Cracked Mirror, Branded by Shame. It is about body image and sense of self.
I have over fifteen years experience working as a psychotherapist. I have been trained in hospital settings both in Argentina and at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. I assisted survivors of 9/11; and worked in different agencies specialized in assisting survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and trauma before opening my private practice in 2010.
Besides being a psychotherapist, I have teaching, speaking, researching and writing experience. I have taught at the University of Buenos Aires, School of Medicine (2003-2004). I have done public presentations in the United States and abroad. Since 1994, I have published articles in newspapers, professional journals, and magazines. In Missouri, I’ve had my own column in the newspapers El Mundo Latino, El Sol de St. Louis and Community News.
Working together, you will be able to find the strength to embrace trust and optimism in your life.
